Changes Over the Last 25 Years of UX Research

The number of UX-related degrees and nondegree certificate programs has grown over the last 25 years. In 1998, the names of most educational programs included terms such as Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology or other forms of psychology. The ideal for which we advocated and sometimes got to practice was user-centered design (UCD) Usability became User Experience in the mid-2000s.
