Care ethics

Care ethics is closely related to the rise of feminist voices in philosophy starting in the 1970s. Care ethics emerged as the counterpoint to consequentialism and deontology. It emphasizes relationships, not tabulated outcomes, as the primary test of ethical behavior. Mary Wollstonecraft, Harriet Taylor Mill and Mary Astell criticized the contemporary interpretation of virtue ethics.
